A new play described as a 'Black Mirror' meets 'A Quiet Place', by way of 'Call of Duty Zombies' is about to open at the Barons Court Theatre.

It tells of a dystopian London in which hordes of mindless 'Loopers' infect their prey with corrupted clickbait.

A soldier named Goody, played by the writer Shaun Blaney who is hearing impaired, must embrace his deafness and use it as a weapon to save the ones he loves.

The play is aiming to show the need for connection and communication in a world overwhelmed by noise and is an exploration of high-frequency hearing loss and the profound impact it has on individuals, their friends and family.

Directed by Emma Copland, who brought the Bewley's Cafe award-winning Slippery When Wet to the Barons Court Theatre, it sees Victoria Johnston and Nuala McGowan join Shaun Bailey in taking on a number of roles. The soundscape invites you to experience the challenges of those living with hearing aids and hearing loss, all within the narrative.

The play is running from 9 to 20 April and is being performed Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30pm. The show lasts for 80 minutes with no interval and contains strong language and violence.

Tickets can be purchased online.

Then from 23 April to 11 May the Barons Court Theatre will be staging a production of Three Queens Rosamund Gravelle’s debut play.

February, 1554. - Queen Mary wears the crown of a nation divided by religion. Before the dawn breaks, confessions will be made, prayers will be sent, and more than one life will hang in the balance.

Queen Mary is determined to save the soul of England. Future Queen Elizabeth is desperate to avoid her mother’s fate, and teenage Queen Jane Grey’s rebellion seeks to unravel everything.

Told in real time over one sleepless night, the play follows three women manoeuvring for power, each carving out their place in history.

There will be a post-show Q&A following the 25 April performance with a panel featuring Baroness Evans of Bowes Park (former Leader of The House of Lords), Dr Elizabeth Norton (eminent Tudor historian) and the playwright. It will be chaired by Sharon Willems, Three Queens director and the Artistic Director of Barons Court Theatre.
